One, the Rangers won't accept you if you are dumb. There *is* a score you need to reach on your ASVAB. Part of that is English skills.
Two, to be a a SpecFor member, they would like you to be a Ranger.
-On the ASVAB you need a GT Score of 110 to be Ranger, 120 to be a SpecFor.
I've achieved that, and am working on preparing myself.

Another route to being SpecFor...
Go in as an 11X with an Option 40 and an Option 60.
The Option 40 means you have a slot for Ranger school.
The Option 60 means that once you reach E-4 promotable, or above you have the option of being interviewed by a SpecFor recruiter for a possible shot.
To be SpecFor you need to be an NCO to my knowledge.
more info head to www.armyranger.com and search the forums.

ok dark?............SHUT THE **** UP!!!!! u'r way more ****y then me admit it, and i'm only 13 right now, what am i expected to know every single detail at the age of 13??? gee u must be pretty dumb if u think that. i still have 7 years man!! or more. why do you keep condemning me cause i have more courage to join the rangers than you?!?!?! like gee you
f-ing hypocrite, go hump a cow. and as jynx said he knows 3 men in the rangers one is obese and smokes, one has an "attitude" and one is..."normal" so just lay off it dude. like u'r just jealous or something, it THAT IT lol. u'r a second js_mac and we don't need anymore js_mac's in this forum so get u'r nose out of a place where REAL men hang out. like... me lol, and i KNOW english grammar ect. i just don't type it when i'm in a hurry. no kid my age does like u should know that. and i'm in perfect shape, and i'm fine with my eyes ect. and even if i don't make it, then i'll at least be able to say the words "I TRIED" unlike you who will never be able to say that OR wear a black beret. u who condemns men for trying to join. very, very pathetic. may God have mercy on your sould man like u'r in for it.
p.s u barely know me! how would you know how i REALLy act if you've never known me chee.

you need to be at least e-5 (sergeant) to be sf. you also need to be airborne qualified.
being a ranger is probably on of the most promising careers in order to become sf. also 11b in general is a good thing to do. or try to get to the 82nd as 101st should be the last choice. "stand up, snap in,slide down the rope - an air assault trooper ain't nuttn' but a joke" ... just kidding they're doing a great job, too.
they have three ranger battalions in the army and they usually operate in battalion strength. you can/have to do courses like mountain climbing, desert, jungle or in the artic.
being an airborne ranger you're already pretty elite. although they made everybody wear the black beret now.
you can read about sf requirements here:
http://alguard.state.al.us/20th/qualification.htm
someone mentioned joining delta force. afaik you have to be sf, seals or at least recon marine, cia etc. and they will pick you if you're top knotch at your position.
the most important thing is to gain knowledge no matter how good you are at shooting people in the sf and above you better fed your brain while in school instead of drinking and doing drugs. (just my advice for the teenagers around ;-))

To become a ranger get option 40 in your contract. That will get you to RIP. If you can make it past that hell you will be assigned to one of the Ranger Battalions and you will get your tan beret and your scroll. Once you are in Battalion for awhile you will get a slot for Ranger school. If you pass you go back to Batt with your tab. From what I've heard Batt. life is hard, but rewarding.
