What do most of you think about the US Marines?

they're fine, the guys are tough but they should really get rid of the girls, i saw this thing about parris island and they were interviewing the girls and some of them were crying they're eyes out cus the drill instructers were too "mean"

How would you know what they go through. The Marines is 100x harder then the Army. Their DI's are 110% "meaner" than the Army's. You go through boot of 6 weeks. Marines double it then one, for 13-14 weeks.

i'm not dissing htem i'm just saying they should get rid of those crappy chix i respect them but i like the rangers more cause they're special forces and have quite a history and the whole thing, but the marines are good ;) (they have been around longer but just a lttle unnoticed till ww1 (the marines i mean)

Yeah but it just tends, the army rags on Marines alot. Which ARMY-Aint Ready for Marines Yet. Copy and adapt alot from Marines. Like the Digital Cammies. Marines came up with them first, well actually got them from the canadians. But are still the original owners of the MARPAT. Not to mention the campaign covers the Corps DI's use, now are found in the army. They got that idea also from Marines. So you are calling Marine chicks crappy, what about the army. Ahaaa hang on, im laughin to hard. And yea they havnt been noticed like they should have when they should have, but yet they are the smallest branch, no army people are brave enough to except the challenge every army person I talk to think they wouldnt make through Marine Boot. That was why they joined the army. and they wanted free college and money because most of them were highschool drop outs. As Marines you have to have a diploma to join. Was I correct on Army boot being 6 weeks long or is it different?

yea that is true the Army dose diss on the marines LOL but who cares ??? I have alot of military personal buddies from every branch and they all have to put their 2 senses in about something to say about each other!!! Persay the air force is brainys the marines are the dumb ones (but its NOT true) its just sterotyping thats all it is!!! I mean its america and we have a right to say something!! but some should keep it to their selves. Iam cool with it all For me its ither the Air Force or the Army.

well do you think u'r any better? dissing the army??? and it dusn't matter who came up with what first these units are all entitled to use them cause they are of the military of the same country. it may matter if something gets sold to another country but when it's just getting used by another branch then it is 100% minor, so don't go saying that the army disses the marines and then start dissing the army, cause that is very 2 faced.

Yeah all the forces all always 'dissing' each other. It's healthy competition, your unit is your family and you defend it's honour resolutely, if every force, unit and battalion is always trying to get one over it's competition, it makes for a very effective fighting force.

I went to Basic last summer, and it was from the beginning of June to the end of August...

So if that's 6 weeks, then there *has* to be a glitch in the Matrix.

first of all people always think of the marines as "better" than tha army but the marines are not all what there made up to be. In WW2 it was the army that invaded Normady while tha marines were in japan. and the marines do tha same things as tha Army but acually the marines are supposed to be apart of tha navy. Not tha many people know that thou. The army goes throu 9 or 13 weeks of basic then the rest depends on there MOS. I just get aggravaded when people think tha Marines are better than tha Army. i know a guy who was in tha armor divison and he said tha marines trained in tha same spot and did tha same things. PLUS the Marines dont have special forces, which are known as tha worlds best soldiers. In my point of view tha Army and Marines are on tha same side so theres no need to argue over it. United we stand stronger and we all fight side by side i just hope all our boys get home marines or soliders. keep your heads up

All you need to do is look at the recruiting commercials/websites of these 2 services. The Marines talk to potentials about becoming part of a clan of warriors, while the Army talks to Joe Schmo about benefits, job training and seem to avoid the idea of being deployed, or of being in combat altogether. Now, who do you think nets more quality recruits?

rangerzrock
05-19-2005, 11:12 PM
well gee if i joined the regular army then i'd not pay any attention to the recruiting adds, i like so many succesfull troops and future troops will know what to expect cause we have been studying like heck to get the idea what the army'll be like, only those wimpy girl soldiers will look at the recruiting adds and say that "this looks easy so i'll join" so you don't really need to worry cause girl troops suck anyway

You really need to get off that case already, you've said that "chix in the army sukk" a hundred times. They're in, they're not going anywhere, so just get used to the idea!
Try to direct your energy on something more constructive!

Aren't the royal marines equal to American special forces? Tht is what I thought and I thought that was the reason behind the increased training they recieve.

06-03-2005, 05:56 PM
No the royal marines are far superior to the American marines. Why do you think the royal marines saw first action in Iraq even though it is an American lead coalition?

royal marine
06-06-2005, 11:04 AM
britaish and proud is rightin a way and we WERE first in iraq....basically we are equal to sealteam 4 which are their best team....but they are trained by us....so maybe there not equal to anything in america

"PLUS the Marines dont have special forces, which are known as tha worlds best soldiers."

They don't have what is technically called "special forces", but their force Force Recon is just as well trained and tough as any other...check em out

Royal Marine...you're talking a lot of stuff about the royal marines, but you're not including some facts into the discussion...taken from http://www.royal-navy.mod.uk/static/pages/141.html "RM Commando Initial training is 32 weeks"

I'm not taking anything away from the Royal Marines, because I'm sure they are well trained...but when making comparisons, you should compare on equal levels...you're comparing royal marine special forces training of 32 weeks to general US marine training of 13 weeks. Try actually comparing basic royal marine boot camp with US marine boot camp in the first place

royal marine
07-02-2005, 03:49 PM
but that website u just tyoild me is wherer i get my info from and our boot camp is harder than theirs from what ive heard from fellow green berets also the royal marines discharge people who do not perform us marines dont

royal marine
07-02-2005, 03:50 PM
also that is our training yeah and all we have of it and all our training is way longer than US marines

yomchi247
07-02-2005, 04:34 PM
no...that info is for "commando" royal marines. If you're not going to be a commando, your training isn't going to be 32 weeks.

And you can't have an opinion about something like judging boot camps unless you've experienced both. It's ignorant to say that US marine boot camp is easier that royal marine boot camp just because a website says it is

yomchi247
07-02-2005, 04:36 PM
and there are so many factors that go into "discharging" soldiers. Your countrys needs for soldiers are sooooo much smaller than the US. I don't know where you're hearing this **** from...but if a US marine doesn't perform in boot camp, he goes home...

royal marine
07-03-2005, 02:07 PM
royal marines is harder than US marines simply beacuse of people i know who have experineced them both...also you can not get royal marines...all royal marines are commandos just look at royal navy.mod.uk to see how ahrd it is and how we fight with the equal force in america (military rule) as navy seals...now dont go and tell me navy seals are worse than US marines
you mut be ignorant to say US marines have harder training then us beacuse our is longer and commandos training which must be hard and one of the hardest in the world

yomchi247
07-03-2005, 03:35 PM
Dumb ***...that is exactly my point...I'm saying don't compare royal marines to regular US troops of ANY branch. They are special forces...It's like comparing Seals to regular Navy...Do you at all understand what I'm saying? or do I have to completely spell it out?

royal marine

Excuse me but I am new, just starting reading through the posts, but had to stop and laugh my butt off over this one...and have to ask...Man have you ever been to the island?
Disneyland it is not!!!!! Sorry but no break for tea time....

One should not let the name fool you because tough does not begin to cover it.....
a few weeks with an Island DI would certainly change your Royal Tune.

And it is spelled Parris Island..that would be in South Carolina USA. If your gonna mock it at least spell it right....

Wannbe Royal Marine, do you actually have anything intelligent to add to the discussion? I notice you have a horrible habit of jumping into every topic, regardless of what it is about and insulting it. The sad part is, in order to insult it, you must constantly wank yourself by pretending you have some factual knowledge of the Royal Marines. You are making them look bad.

Your closed minded self centered small little ego is ruining good discussion here. I realise you aren't mature, and now that you have a little friend, you feel like the internet tough guy again - but you need to chill out. You are not the only member on this board, some people are actually looking for information, and it gets lost in your constant bashing of units you know nothing about.

Hopefully, people will catch on and use the "ignore poster" feature so they can have a decent and informative discussion.

Everybody you offended with your S*** talking and did not want to waste the time replying to that trash you posted about one of the toughest training camps in the world. Yeah guys lets make fun of its name.... hahaha it sounds like a holiday destination. Well to anybody who knows anything about Parris Island, it does not, posting crap like that just makes you look ignorant.
