:) Hi, My father served in WWII and I was wondering if there is any way we can find out what he did over seas, his battalians he was with, we think he served with the 8th infantry, etc. I didn't know how hard this would be to find out and since he has been deceased for many years now, none of this has been written down. Thanks

Tammy, I just decided to do the same thing you're doing. My father served in the Burma theater in WWII and I know nothing else about it. I just sent for his records from the military. I'll keep you posted here as things progress so you can get some info too.
Here is the link to get to the records request.

Paul, I have his DD214 and thats what you will get from that request. I also requested his medals and did receive them from the Army after about 6 months for no charge. My husband was so proud to see what his dad did. I do see where you can ask for certain documents, but I am wondering what the Army will give us. Thanks for the help and I hope your search works out. Please keep me informed if you find out something else.
