HIV/AIDS Vaccine
For those of you who dont know there has been a so called "vaccine" out for HIV.
For anyone interested in the future of AIDS, these are interesting times. Last week, researchers met in Paris to compare each other's scientific progress toward an HIV vaccine, the invention that holds the best hope of ending, rather than just fearing, the pandemic and whatnot. Given that HIV is the most difficult virus for which a vaccine has ever been attempted, progress has been hard won, but won nonetheless. Now the challenge is not just for scientists but also for policy makers, industry and funders because we all know without funders, we would be nothing .We would also need the momentum at hand from these people. This is vital, as it is increasingly clear that the world will not fully solve the AIDS problem without a fundamental change in the status quo. So what do you guys think?

There is research into the immunity of less then 1% of the population to HIV, its to do with the genetic anomoly that does not allow the HIV strain to lock onto antibodies... those folks through whilst not affected by it, do become carriers..... Outside of that, dont have a clue... Just practice safe sex and try keep your level of partners to a reasonable level....

Actually, at the present time all that exist are a number of trials of experimental vaccines - and this area of study has been pursued for several years. One such, Vaxgen's AIDSVAX, was declared a failure in North America in 2003 after it failed to reduce rates of HIV infection within the sudy population. Drug and vaccine trials must go through a multi-stage process before being approved for use; at present there is only 1 vaccine in Stage 3 trials, and that is The RV 144 study in Thailand. This study combines AIDSVAX with Aventis Pasteur ALVAC-HIV canarypox vector, known as "vCP1521". On September 24, 2009 it was announced that the combination succeeded in reducing the infection rate in trial, with 31.2% effectiveness.
