Default help in enlisting

Ok, so I need some help or advice for a problem I'm having enlisting. So let me start by telling you my problem. So basically over 3 years ago I recieved a dui. I completed required classes and programs and finished my 2 year supervision over a year ago with no problems. My recruiter said no problem to that, he can submit a waiver. Now the problem is after I did a bunch of paper work and took my asvab test I was waiting on him to do a police check on the county where I recieved the dui. I come to find out the day I'm goin to schedule my physical that I can't enlist. Now heres the problem when I recieved the dui I got a ticket for a minimal amount of canabis. The ticket was ultimately dismissed by the court and was never charged. He said that I can't enlist because of that charge. What I don't get is why, since it was dismissed and was never charged with it. I also have paper work showing this. Can anyone help me with advice or if its possible to enlist? Thanks in advance for any help.

Your recruiter has the latest info. If you think he or she may be mistaken, or want more info than he or she can provide, request to speak to the recruiting station Commander. But your recruiter gets paid to put people in - not keep people out, so believe me they want you in if you qualify! I will be posting the results of this past recruiting year in a bit, with my take on what that means now and for the immediate future.

Good luck!

I don't think there's anyone here that has the answer. If we did that answer would probably be different by the time we had our second cup of coffee!

Try a different Recruiter at a different Recruiting Station. Then try it again in a few weeks. Waivers come & go depending on the needs of the army for more or less soldiers. Right now because of the economy & lack of jobs it's a Recruiter's market. The Army can be afford to be fussy who they allow in because there are so many that are waiting in line. This could change in a heartbeat. For instance - the Army wants to downsize certain elements of the Army but they will be adding one battalion each to the 5 Special Forces Groups. That's quite a few men. The Army also wants to increase its overall manpower by 22,000 soldiers.

Different times of the year there will see different policies in place. Traditionally around the Christmas holiday season into the new year is the slowest. With the slow job market all bets are off. I think the Recruiters are strill working off the list of the June grads. It was an extremely busy time this year from everything I've heard.

Holy Hanna, SFAS selectors and cadre staff are gonna be busy for sure!!.. I read an article about the 10th Special Forces Group...... when they were formed the cold war was at its peak and first special forces group in its current formation was formed it through this period.... The called it 10 SFG, cos they wanted the Ruskies to be looking for the other 9 which didnt exist at the time!!... Man, ya gotta love the garden path, so many get led down it by something so simple....

MSG Glenn is exactly right. When I came in 4 years ago, they were hurting to get soldiers in...now they have pretty much met quota so they won't let the same people in that they did 3 or 4 years ago. I have a buddy that was trying to do the same thing and was eventually turned down at 2 recruiting stations. If you are adamate about joining, you might have to wait it out a little bit and try again. Good luck to you.
