Questions About Tattoos
My name is Sara and I am considering signing up for the army, and about to talk to a recruiter, my question before I sign up is that I have a large tattoo on my lower back that basically is a tribal design with japanese symbols that mean heaven, angel, destiny, my name, and my zodiac sign, the tattoo goes all accross my lower back and around my hip bones, it's not visible when I am in normal clothes. My friend in the airforce told me I wouldn't be able to sign up because a "large percentage of my body is tattooed", I have read some sites and they say that they may only ask you to remove tattoos that are inappropriate and visible, please e-mail me at saraxnicole@hotmail.com if you know a positive answer for my question, thank you. -Sara-

Dont worry about it
As long as the tattoo is not visible in your T-shirt and Shorts, or gang related they don t care.

i assume so... some veterans have their unit badge tatoo on them, usually on the upper arm. if thats the case, its probably not the best idea to get one while serving (they discuss this in an SAS book im reading), because if you're captured the tatoo is a dead give away as to your unit and loyalties, and is a sign of western society, so you could probably kiss you *** goodbye.
on that point, a religous symbol would have much the same affect. hell, get a muslim star tattoo, might give you a chance of getting away

dont worry i got flames on both my arms from my wrist bone to my elbows.......i havent been kicked outa the army yet

um either that or they would torture u more for being one of us with that tatoo and for turning your back on muslim religion........just a thought(i know ur not muslum)
