Nope, mercs do not generally work for upstanding and professional companies.
If you mean PMCs, the ones worth their salt do not hire mercs and require very specific experiences and skill sets.

Theres a Private security/paramilitary company that operates out of Florida ( i think?)
made of American and British ex-special forces but cant remember for the life of me where i read/saw it,still looking.
They have been known to hire out mercs for bodyguarding duties and have also been employed by African governments to help fight guerillas and militant groups.
They guard gargo vessels aswell while sailing through pirate waters.
I do know that you cant just 'apply' williy nilly
You need specialist skills and must have been time served in the special forces(at least 10 years)
be back when ive found more

I have been approached by a few people asking me.. but i declined.. because the reason i joined the army is to defend my country and for a couse.. nothing else nothing more..

You are confusing a Merc with a PMC/PSC employee. There are differences. There are many different PMCs and PSCs out there, all of them have different qualification requirements. They do not only hire former SOF types. Jobs vary, and while PSD is a huge mission for many of the PMCs in Iraq, it is not the only one.
I am not sure why almost everyone on this board feels the need to make everything so "Hollywood."

They do not "approach" people without them first having put in an application. It is a business, not a secret organisation of super ninjas.

Sometimes PMCs do approach SOF soldiers who haven't applied first. I've heard from some quite professionals that they've been contacted. They like to hire SOF guys because its good marketing to say they have special forces on their team. It helps them charge more for contracts. Of course, in reality someone who's good at SF duties isn't necessarily going to be good at security duties. But most people hiring the PMCs like to see it.

Only way that happens is if a former colleague from a unit knows you and gives you a call to ask if you fancy any work... Not something that happens to your average person.

Yes, that happens on occasion. But I've heard from some guys who were quite aggrevated that the PMCs, not former colleagues working for PMCs, found their contact info and got ahold of them.
