Default New Orlean's? ...Shame on you!

America has the money to stay in Iraq and spend money on Arms and a futile attempt at spreading democracy but has done nothing at all to help New Orleans . I'd be ashamed if I were an American . What happened to you guys ? You got so obsessed by power ,you forgot your own people ?

However since you are an "observer" you would observe that we were in iraq 2 years before katrina happened. And if you "observed" you would see that the money and man pwer is going into katrina. In these pat 6 months, the gov't has put over 200 billion dollars to aid and recovery. 50 members of the 82nd were sent over to keep the peace and the army corps of engineers have spent 4 months in the area. The Navy seabees has been over in New orleans for 5 months cleaning area debris. So before you start opening you mouth about something you don't know, do some research. Hell, I'm proud to be an American. So even though you're from another country, doesn't give you the right to talk that way. You tried poking around in the dark. Guess what, the dark just poked back. Feel free to respond I'm all for debate.

Where do you get your figures from son ? $200 billion is half the GNP of Belgium .

I agree with ya in the fact that its sad about the katrina disaster and how the goverment couldnt make nothing about it because they were more concerned about Irak that abomut their people.

Listen, Observer, I'm not trying to pick a fight. But i did debate this topic and i am going to the National tournament. But to be a good debater, I have to see both sides of that story. The 200 mil figure was from the GOP. i know it's a lot of money to you but with The US's budget, they can afford it. while I offer no contention that response was slow, the current situation is being delt with accordingly. But the overall motif of my argument is that right now we do care. I'm not giving YMCA figures but estimates from FEMA, National Homeland Security, and the Coast Gaurd. As for me I'm looking at it staight in the face as one of my friends cousins was killed. So, to observer i apologize but i cannot admit ignorance on this argument because i have completely thought this through with a heavy heart for my friend. Believe i'm not in a Inter City Public School. I'm at a national academy with plenty of Foreign students who have offered their opinions and research. I'm proud to say we raised over 10,00 dollars for reliefe. but i must admit i have researched All sides of the Story. Brown was a mess, no dnying it. But The New FEMA is responding. To get to your origional argument, Iraq did not get in the way if you can explain how the War in Iraq is getting in the way of current operations in New orleans, i would like to discuss.

The GNP of California places it fifth among the countries of the world

Belgium only ranks within the 10 or so richest countries

You are comparing Mosquitos to Taradactyl's.

@ 200 Billion were saying about 6-700 bucks per American. ...Math's a bad scene for me so let me know if that was just stupid.

I'm certainly willing to debate that more would be available if less would be getting focused abroad. It's just obvious, isn't it?

Obviously maths arn't a strong point . The population of New Orleans is currently 200,000 .Before the storm hit it was 500,000. 200 billion would make the citizens of new Orleans millionaires . Bush pledged 10.5 billion in september . Read the fine print it says over a sustained period . So the money will arrive over a 10 year period more like .

Have to say - no international coverage of the Mardi Gras is making NO look good; of course, [sarcasm] this could be the result of some international liberal media conspiracy to make the US govermnent look mad.. [/sarcasm]

I never said they handed 200 billion over to the citizens of New Orleans.

I said that Belgium had an economic output placing it about 10th among countries and that California alone (1 american state) would rank fifth.

Maybe math is my weak point but it looks like reading is your challenge. To be fair.

Is 6-700 bucks/american accurate? eh.

Within 10 years your coast is going to be ravaged by Hurricanes, to say you will have it fixed up in 10 years is just insane, and useless. I didn't feel like getting into the sad state of a 10 year timeline. If you insist though.

A billion is a 1000 million ,200 billion is 200,000 million .Which would give each existing resident 1 million dollars each .
I used Belgiums GNP as an example of how much money $200 Billion represents ,not to draw a comparison with Americas GNP .That would be a ridiculous thing to do . The Belgian population is approx 10 million with a purchasing parity of $300 Billion. New Orleans now has a population of 200,000 .$200 Billion is Clearly a ridiculous figure plucked out of the air by an over active imagination .
