Default I would like to join the army, but I dont know if it is possible for me!

Hello everyone.

Let me introduce myself.

I am an 18 Years old male person who was born and raised in Western-Berlin.
The military is always present to me. Some of my friends are in the military service of the German "Bundeswehr" .-

I have to admit, that I could join "our" army, - but our army is pretty lame at all. You won`t see any action ever at all. Additional the german Army does not support my personal opinion as much as the American army does.

I am very sorry for my poor level of english. As long as it is not my native language I will still have to learn it; or at least to increase what I already learned .

So here I am and thats what I am planning:

At the moment I am 18 Years old (as I already said above) .. I will work for a year in Berlin by supporting my country in treating old people. Thats not a glourious duty at all, but at least its a job wich actually gives me still a lot of free time.

When I will be done with that task I should be in an age of 19 years. Than I will start an 3 Years Study of the english language. After I finished that (And it will take a lot of money) I will get the ability to be a translator for english/german. That might be an advantage for me in my further life.

If it works the way as planned, I should be in an Age of 22 in the year 2009.
Thats the point when I would like to join the United States Army.
Actually I am way afraid that I might not take (to get done) the Basic Training ..
So I will work on my physical condition (- strength and stamina) while the next years.

Is it even possible for me to join the Army if I am not an native american ?
I luv your country even much more than I do love my own nation.
What else do I have to pass to get accepted as an enlisted soldier ?

Every answer would be nice.

PS: Thanks what your Nation did in the past years to my country.

if your great nation wouldn`t liberated europe in time.

edit:
My hobbies are collecting United States Army and Marines Equipment wich was used during the vietnam war.

Talking Germans in Afgan

I work in the land mine fields out in Afgan. Where im at, there are armys from all over the world but the 2 groups i like working with the most are the Germans and the Polish.

There are alot of German troops here believe it or not
not to mention they are great to work with. I took some German classes when I was in high school so i can talk in german a little. Its really funny when i talk to one of them that can speak both English and German since he loves to tease me on my attempts to talk with the others.

As for your plans I wish you the best of luck. As for basic trainning, If you set your heart and mind into it, you wont have a problem.

as for me, i could never ever renonce my country to fight for another nations army, i am american. but if it goes against your standards, then i guess it would be justifable. every veteran, every serviceman that i have talked to has warned me about one thing, do not join the regular army as a grunt, as a grunt you are worthless to your superior officers, a expendable soldier. ive had some people get nasty at me for asking questions, over basically nuthing other that sheer ignorance, but ive studdied alot and hope fully could tell you what you need to know accurately and efficeintly, if you would like to contact me somewer besides this forum, my aol screen name is soccerking1162. feel free to respond.

Default you can do it its easy here's how

I am a soldier in heidelberg/mannheim about an hour south of frankfurt., i have had 2 bosses that were german in the u.s. army, and one that was from the netherlands, and was in the british army...anybody can, look on google, or www.goarmy.com and search for recruters in germany, or recruters in usareur. Send an email, or make a few calls on that page, the recruters will come to your house, talk to you, take you out to dinner, drive you to MEPPS, you will do paperwork, pee in a cup things like that, then you get a shiping date, and you go to basic, tell them you want ft. knox in kentucky, don't pick a stupid job like me i am a radio operator rto....(funknar) I think thats how its spelled. Joining will help you get a green card quick and things like that. Don't call your drill sergant sir! say "Drill Sergeant yes drill sergeant" for the fitness (45 pushups in 2 minutes) (52 situps in 2 minutes) and run 3,2 kilometers, (2miles) in 16 minutes and 30 seconds. don't worry they will help you get in shape. to easy. I have been in for 5 years, about to get out and will stay here in heidelberg. veil spass, machst gut nicht trinken zu veil.
