Question applying for direct commission

Hello,

I am a Registered nurse for 14 years experience and have recently applied for direct commission as a 2nd LT. I had been selected by the board but I need to overcome 3 waivers for age , an RE3 code from the Nat'l Guard (which I did not know about), and for bankruptcy 6 years ago. The recruiter I'm working with and I have redone all my apaer work and right now it has gone to Fort Knox and so far they have asked only for one more correction which was done promptly and sent off. I've been told that the fact that they forwarded it was a good sign. The commanding officer of my unit also wrote a letter-stating they feel I will be a strong asset to the unit. I have had to over come many obstacles to get to this point. Does any one know how long this process takes and what are the odds of rejection ? My recruiter said he normally would not process anyone with a RE3-but there were extenuating cicumstances at the time and my old unit basically screwed me-it was a poorly managed unitvwhich no longer exists. I appreciate any info you could give me!!

Sincerely,

Tammy P.

I've seen waivers come through as quickly as two weeks, as as slowly as a year. On average, they seem to be coming through between one and three months. Good luck, whatever happens, don't quit.

We need nurses real bad (thus the direct commission). I wouldn't worry too much--it will probably come through pretty quickly!
