Unhappy Husband is having trouble joining

I posted this in a different section of the forum, but it probably should have gone under Enlistment Info, so here I go:

My husband's goal for a very long time has been to join the military. He enlisted in February, and was supposed to leave in March. Well they had to hold 10 people back, as they overbooked. He then was scheduled to leave in May (next week). When we got married and they updated his paperwork, they found that the medical information was missing. My husband has been an active hockey player and has had broken bones and 2 concussions, which were minor. Even though all of his medical history states that all of his injuries were minor and cause no long term damage, they are having him take an MRI and speak with a medical examiner tomorrow. That will determine if he can actually join.

Now my husband is very healthy and active and takes excellent care of himself. He has not had any injuries in about 4 years. He never suffers from body aches or headaches, so I don’t see a problem. but i also am not in the military so i can't really say.

We’ve both been kind of stressing about this, since he recently finished up at his job thinking he was leaving next week. Now there’s a chance he may not even get to do what he’s been wanting to do for so long.

I’m hoping to get some feedback from any of you who could give me any advice or can relate to this. I find it hard to believe every single person in the military has never had a broken bone…

Thanks a bunch!

As long as the MRI shows up clean and the Doc sees no problems with his physical he will be good to go. If something does show up, depending on what it is, medical waivers are always a possibility.

I would not worry too much at this point.

As you say, he has no neurological (brain/nervous system) problems after his concussions, so it's more than likely the MRI will see no problem there. However, bones occasionally don't heal over properly, leaving a weakened area of brittle (easily-breakable) calcified tissue. This could cause problems in military life, as you can imagine, and the MRI can spot these areas. If the bones injuries were minor and have caused no problems since, then I imagine you don't have much to worry about.
