Default Medic training for SF

I hear that the special forces medics are the hardest to become. I would like to know why this is and what it takes to become one. I scored a 58 on my military test and i wondering if i can get into the training and maybe what i would do in training and anything i can do out here to help me be perpared for the job

Default Quadruple Volunteer...

You have to first:
Volunteer Army
Volunteer Jump Training
Volunteer Special Forces school
Volunteer Medics school

Army SF Medics ARE the best medics in the Army, no exceptions. They get trained to almost the level of a PA, or Physicians Assistant, and get to do things that a line Medic wouldnt get to do in his wildest dreams. Its hard. Think about it. If you apply, and bust out, you will end up either as a truck driver in Korea (needs of the Army) or keeping the right seat of a HUMV warm, rolling thru Anbar province waiting for Haji to blow you up....

Let me clear up a few bits of misinformation you have been given.

There are two roads to Special Forces. The 18X contract or putting in an SFAS packet once you're already in the service.

You will have to qualify for the 18X contract (which, with your score it is doubtful that you have, so I suggest you study a bit more) .. attend Infantry OSUT, BAC (airborne school), attend and pass SFAS (SF selection), and then the SFQC.

You cannot volunteer to be an SF Medic (18D). 18 series MOSes are handed out, as in, assigned to you. Getting 18D is just the luck of the draw.

If you fail any portion of the 18X pipeline, you will become an 11 series (Infantry) (not a truck driver) and will most likely be assigned to an airborne infantry unit (82nd Abn Div. takes most).

SF Medics and Air Force PJs (Pararescuemen) are the best trained SOF medics the US military has. Both require intelligence, creativity and discipline to complete their training regimen.

As for the comment concerning rolling through Anbar waiting for Haji to "blow you up." We have lost several SF soldiers to IEDs. If you think joining SF exempts you from patrols and IEDs, you are sadly mistaken.
