Default Becoming an MP

I'm looking to become a military police officer (31B). To my understanding, this would mean my BCT/AIT will be located at Fort Leonard Wood. My actual question is: How long can I expect my AIT to last for? Also, between BCT and AIT, do MP-recruits get any time off, or is the transition just like any other day (only, you go to sleep being in BCT and wake up in AIT)?

You get a few days off between BCT and AIT. I'm not sure how many though. OSUT (BCT and AIT) is usually around 19 weeks.

Thanks for the information. Could you tell me approximately where Fort Leonard Wood is located? I'm just curious as to what airport would be best to fly my parents into should they come to my OSUT graduation (and, consequently, a close motel/hotel).

Also, who is welcome to attend your graduation? Could I have my girlfriend come instead of my parents?

Both parents and girlfriend should be able to go. They'll brief you on this when you get there and you'll have plenty of time to notify them. For area maps and photos and stuff of Ft. Leonard Wood, try their website www.wood.army.mil . The home page also has a link to the MP school which is http://www.wood.army.mil/usamps/ . Good luck!

Nah, not yet. I still have a lot of stuff to finish up around home. Won't be until next spring at the very earliest. But playing it more realistically, it could be as far off as the spring after next. The sooner the better, however.

Default Question about the school.

I am a former Marine, and I have been thinking about becoming a MP. I have been out for little over a year now and was wondering if someone could give me some insight of how the school is for prior service, lol am I going to get yelled at, spit on and treated like the lowest thing on earth again? Only thing i could gather form the website was that I will be placed in the 2nd week of training.

I am just curious as to what to expect and what I should prepare myself for, other then getting back into physical shape.
