Vietnam - Was the US winning, right before it lost??
As some know, In other posts, I have used the Vietnam war and its counter intelligence program near the latter end in which VC agents were caught and turned into doubles.... passing misinformation and gathering Intel for US forces in the massive Guerilla war in Vietnam. Facts are that despite the VCs successful alliance with NVA and the massive damage inflicted in US Forces in the south, the USs failing tactics were revised and new input and focus was given to Counter Intel for the fact that US was failing cos they couldnt get a handle on successful initiatives and thus couldnt get an upper hand due to a lack of Intel on the enemy actions and plans....
As a result, these programs were put in place, and whilst MASSIVE anti war protests raged in the US, these progams rolled out in Vietnam and begin to feedback good Intel on VC movements and plans, making them a target for US initiated Ambushs for example... By 1972, the tide of the war in terms of battles to the US had turned in favour to the US, and the new tactics were working by first counts... however US whilst turning the war of Intel, bombs and bullets in their favour, the war of words was lost at home and troops were pulled out of the country thus concluded the war.....
Thing is, the counter intel program worked.... used today???... maybe, should be used today in Iraq/Afganistan.... most definately...
Heres to the VETS of Vietnam who suffered trying to fight a guerella war with conventional tactics....

We killed 90% of the Vietcong in the Tet Offensive.
