Exclamation Thinking About Joining The Army.. Please Read

I've been thinking a lot about how my life has been going over the past 3-4 years and I don't know... I just feel like it's not going anywhere. Yeah, I went to college and graduated and yeah, I've been working but I just feel like my life has no real direction in it. The jobs I have had were mediocre and don't pay that well. I have been at the same job for 3 years almost and when I try to get a job in what I went to school for I have so many problems trying to keep the job that I've started to regret ever having went into this type of position in the Medical field. I just haven't really felt accepted at any place I've worked. The friends I had back in South Carolina and some of the ones I have here are basically the same. No direction, no goals to better themselves, etc. I just feel like my life is being wasted being in Arizona and that I'm never going to be anything in life if I stay in my current position. I've never really liked living here. I remember going on and on and on about hating living in South Carolina and wanting so bad to come here and now that I am here and have been here for the past 4 years it's like... crap! I wish I would've known then what I know now! I mean I've come to the realization that I have no reason to stay here and going back home wouldn't be much wiser. There's less back home than there is here.

I was talking to my dad yesterday about the military life and his experiences in the Air Force. It sounded really cool and some times I was thinking "Oh my god! Is this what I really want?" My dad said that what I am looking for (direction, motivation, etc.) could definitely be achieved by joining the Army. That I'd get a lot of life experience and maturing would be something that I'd have to do. I would just have to motivate myself to drop the weight I needed to lose to join. That having myself in better shape would be wise before jumping into basic training.

With all of that said... I have been thinking about joining the Army. It's been a feeling that has come and gone since I was a teenager. But now the feeling is stronger than it has ever been. I feel like I need some advice or guidance to help me figure out if this is really for me. I mean I know it sounds like I'm confused and don't know what I want, but I really have this feeling that I want to join, but I guess I need that push to do it!!!

If you have a college degree, I highly suggest you look into getting a commission.

What do you mean a commission? The only thing I received from the school was a diploma, but I guess if I'd go in as a Medic I'd be like an assistant or something.

FY, a commission is a document that qualifies officers to be officers.. if you dont have a degree, which was suggested in your original post, then you could enlist... Hasan the Mad is a Medic and can advise on the medic MOS..
