"I don't know if I can do it"
Most people who have enlisted have had moments of doubt/fear and wonder about whether to join. I have read some of the posts where people are nervous about enlisting, feel like they aren't good enough, are scared of the unknown, or messages from parents are fearing their child enlisting... I thought these quotes were uplifting, positive and SO TRUE! I hope you don't mind me sharing them...
Anyone else who is currently serving, please add your inspiring quotes or experiences that lead to your decision to enlist or that keep you going...
Thanks for reading all,
Fire
---------------------------------------------
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Marianne Williamson I was surprised & happy to see this quote on a white board by the drill sgt. while visiting my hubby in AIT...
"Fear paralyzes; curiosity empowers. Be more interested than afraid."
Patricia Alexander
"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure , the process is its own reward." -Robyn Davidson
"Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt."
-William Shakespeare
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
Frank Herbert

Excellent Thread! I think this applies to everything you do in life not just the military. My quote of the day.

Grimm,
"The fear of failure can be worse than actually failing" - John Grimm
That is SO true. Plus I think failure is SO relative... I mean, regardless... failure brings lessons you couldn't have learned to begin with and everything can build your character in a positive way if you choose to.
Thanks Grimm...

You know my husband's friend who didn't have luck with the ladies... said "you should never trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die." hahahaha I guess that isn't so positive... but when I saw your dog comment it just triggered that memory... good times... gotta love hubby's friends.
The mother one... priceless...
