couple of questions conerns about my weight and joining
so i weighed about 326, lost 32 lbs, and weih 294 currently after i take a ****. so my main conern is like every other future soldier, i can only do 15 pushups, 20-25 situps, run about 1.5 miles or 2 miles if i have someone to talk to and am distracted a little so i dont have to worry about my heart pounding hard, etc, am i in good condition enough to enlist? and i can also make the pt minimum requirements, TO ALL THOSE WHO CAN READ THIS IM SO DETERMINED TO JOIN THE ARMY AS INFANTRY 11X, I WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE IT IN but my weight has held me back, i've been working out, going to the gym 2 times a day and losing weight by eating right. i really need some insight as in will i make it in basic or will i get blanket parties and get scruffed on because im not as in shape as everyone else. it really concerns and if anyone can help releive some of the stress off of me by answering these questions, it would mean the world.
 so will i make it?

Check out the height and weight charts. Why did you pick the most physically demanding job in the Army? Being a grunt means you'll be ruckin' it for twelve miles one day, and running six the next morning whether you're sore or not. Infantry Basic Training isn't the place to get in shape, you need to already be in relatively good shape to make it. And don't worry about distractions, drill sergeants will provide plenty during PT.

Will you make it???? Making it - is all up to you. You are going to get yelled at for something, if not everything... so YOU ultimately decide how you want to condition yourself and prepare for basic. Based on what you said in your email - it sounds like you need more mental prep... everyone needs to be in better shape. COntinue to work out and prove to yourself you can achieve your goals.

You're gonna have to take the weight off to get in the Army regardless what MOS you want.! If you want it bad enough you'll do it. You have no choice. I doubt the Army will even take you unless you put your 294 lbs on an 8' frame. Somewhere on this site just recently posted is a young man who has to lose 1" on his waistline before the Army will allow him to enlist. Get with him & support each other. It's do-able.
If you want to go Infantry it's darn physical! You have to be in shape even if you lose the weight. It gets progressively more physical if you want Airborne Infantry, Rangers, or SF.
My advice is to see a doctor & have him put you on a sensible diet & exercise program. You certainly don't want to injure yourself. Just keep it in mind that you might have to wait a long while before enlisting. The Army is enlisting up to age 42.
NEVER QUIT!!!! Set your goal, have patience & go for it at the right time.

thanks for the kind words. appreciate it. and im looking to enlist in a week or 2. all i know is that im under the 30 % body fat which means i can take the arms testing, 13 pushups in under 1 minute, 17 sit ups in under 1 min. and 5 mins of stair case.. my stomach has to be 44 inches, neck 20 inches, and height has to be 6'3.
so far im 48 around the stomach but i have gone down from 51 to 48 so im improving at least. my neck is 19.5 currently and they round it to 20 so im safe, and my height is 6'3 75 inches.
2 more weeks and im sure i can be in gauranteed!
and does anyone know if theres a way to request early deployment to basic? im really looking forward to it. just nervous about showering in front of other people LMAO.

I posted something similar to this on a different thread.
Someone was asking about the PT Test and minimum scores
and talking about how he can't do push ups.
If you push for the Minimum Requirements to get into the Army.
You'll be sorry, don't do it.
At the beginning of this year, I was over weight like yourself.
Around Feb I hit an all time high of 245 pounds.
Right now I am 187 pounds and in the process of putting
back some of the muscle I lost when I lost all that weight.
Don't be in a hurry to get in and don't shoot for the minimum.
No offense or anything but if you are at the minimum weight requirements.
I would be willing to bet, that Dill Sergeant's will target and have a field day
with you.
Take your time, work hard, build some muscle as well as lose the weight
and go when you are truely ready. The Army will still be here when you are ready
it's not a fat farm, you will not get special treatment until you lose weight.
Don't make it harder then it already will be.

my hubby went in weighing a lot it all depends on your height and the amount of body fat you have.... your recrutier will measure you for all the good stuff... as long as your in shape you shouldnt get a blanket party.... but I dont know I am not in the military just an army wife but thats what happend to my hubby and he lost about 60-70 lbs while in basic and AIT... I say if your determend GO FOR IT dont give up now just cuz you got a few extra love handles

If you are worried about diabetes and high blood pressure you get yourself to a doctor! Don't be scared and ignore, it won't go away. You could be worried about nothing and if it is something, you can take care of it.
The first time I saw my son was after 9 weeks of Infantry basic. I said, "boy, where is your (rear)?" His reply was that he had run it off, literally.

evo,
Don't worry about things you have no control over. If there's anything wrong with you the physical exam will discover it. Instead I would try to take off some more weight. Hopefully PUs, SUs, pullups, & runs closer to the maximum. Don't ever strive for minimums. You're going to be a U.S. soldier & you should always try to be the best. Get a super dose of confidence. You can do anything you set your mind to.
What MOS are you looking at? If it's combat arms you'll have to be in good shape. Basic will help you get there but I always advise new soldiers to go in the Army with the ability to exceed the requirements for your final basic PT test. It'll be MUCH easier on you.
Don't rush into the Army ill-prepared. If you have to wait a few months then so be it. The Army will still be there.
