Default Adopt a Soldier/Platoon

Okay, so every year our family does a service project that spans over several months to a year. This year we decided we were going to adopt a soldier. It took TWO WEEKS, BUT TODAY WE GOT our soldier's name. <clapping> Although, I can't disclose his information - we are thrilled!

So my suggestion to each of us is to participate in a soldier support program where ever we may be in the world. Support your SOLDIERS!

There is a great website for fellow Americans:

http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/am...rtsyou/thanks/

We went through http://www.adoptaplatoon.org and there you can adopt 1-4 soldiers OR a whole platoon (for churches, cusinesses, schools, etc...). You do have to commit to one letter a week and one package a month for this cause. You can also just do a pen pal program.

What a great season to reflect on our blessings, freedoms, families, and friends... and personally - anyone who protects me/my family, etc... is in my family!

Love to you all currently serving and I hope my other American friends will check out the America Supports You site.

Hugs,

Fire

Default Here's another one

Here is another website to go to. It may have been on here before, but it was new to me. It is sponsored by Xerox and it is absolutely free. You can send a card to a soldier and it will be added to a care package sent by gifts2soldiers. Pretty cool. We are going to do it as a class next time we go to the computer lab.

We committed to writing them weekly and sending packages monthly (or whenever). I think the penpal program is just writing letters. (??) I don't know cause I was planning on doing packages. You can just read through the different programs.

The upside??? That would be to increase morale... AND the LORD knows --- I do that well... usually??? hahahaha
