Merkel: Iran our grave security concern
Dec 27, 2007

Iranian.ws

German Chancellor Angela Merkel once again casts slurs on the Islamic Republic, accusing Tehran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program.

Merkel has recently followed in the line of argument of President Bush who claimed 'Iran is dangerous and Iran will be dangerous'.

"Iran's nuclear program is one of our biggest security policy concerns," an article published in Handelsblatt quoted Merkel as saying.

The German leader claims it remains a 'vital interest' for the world to prevent Iran from having nuclear enrichment capabilities, 'even if this means resorting to a further tightening of sanctions'.

This is while the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) confirmed previous reports by the UN nuclear watchdog by stating with high confidence that Tehran is not seeking nuclear arms.

The December 3 release of the NIE report sparked outrage in Israel. The Zionist regime then started lobbying against Tehran in a bid to drum up support for the imposition of UN sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Political pundits believe the Zionist regime will never stop until it provokes world powers to launch a military strike on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear energy generation program.

Yup... theres a multitude of reasons why he did, but the smell of BS coming from Iran everytime they say something is just laughable at this stage... youd need somebody mirroring every event on the ground and thats not a certainty if you get a straight story from them...

Well, thats one of the reasons why he said it.. but theres more too.. you make a good point on Afganistan, and France & Germany like the idea of the radar having Iran as No1 Issue, not Afganistan.... Politics at play, but you must also consider that there is a ligitimate security concern for Europe regarding Iran too... given that they have new Russian Anti Aircraft missle defence...guarding the sites the rest of the world doesnt want built.....
