Default Knee Problem

I have recently began the track season. I went on the 2 mile run then noticed my knee was swollen. That was 4 days ago. It is now turning black and blue and is still swollen. I have iced it, but even that doesn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions, I am determined not to miss and of tracck practice

Firstly stop excercising it for the moment.... did you fall on it? Twist it?.....

Does the swelling not seem to be reducing?...

Might be soft tissue injury that needs time to heal....

However, you cant be certain, and accordingly, I reccomend you see your Doctor.... cos the last thing you want is an injury that would have fluid building up around your knee..

Yes, see your Doctor and get a professional opinion on it with a remedy....

Good Luck..

Exo..

For sure a good suggestion! Missing track might be better than a permanent injury. Damage your knee permanently & it might keep you out of the Army. Stop any activities immediately! You may have torn a ligament. That takes a long time to heal.

The first rule in medicine - "cause no further injury".

Might want to look long term on this one.

Miss track and heal .. have a potential career in the military, play outdoors, run, hop, skip, jump in the future.

Don't miss track practice, aggrivate the injury more ... live your entire adult life with constant pain and miss out on any hope of ever serving in the military.

Your choice, choose wisely.

To also echo Exo1 ... "doctor"

I will heed you advice and take off. I am going to see the personal trainer on Monday if the swelling doesn't go down. I was running in street shoes (I know, not a good idea), I think that could have caused my knee to swell. I already have a problem with my groin (pulled it and didn't let it heal, every time I run it gets tight), I dont want another one.

Now you're being smart. A season of track isn't worth a possible lifetime of disability.

Cool Back in the game....

"Top" ..MSG Glenn..&..EX"..Solid advice.

You don't want any ligament problems around and below the inside of your knee. Any pain?...Use the RICE treament..Rest Ice Compression and Elevation..if it continues...See an Orthopedic Doctor.Don't mess around..Im a long time high level two sport athlete and "I always stay on top" of my P/T training as a soldier....The last thing you need is coming up short in any of your training because of pain...It doesn't work. It's great to have good training habits and to know your limits..It puts you back in the game sooner and you'll be better off for it.....

I can't walk on it without feeling pain. I am going to talk to my coach and athletic trainer in 2 days. I know that if I'm out for a little while, I will be able to catch up on missed pt.
