Dennis,

Man, your not alone..We had a few older soldiers in my unit at Bct....They soldier on...We have one FNG in my unit that has to be close to cut off age..He's a good soldier and he's cool..

82ndSniper, is one of our members who is reenlisting close to the cut off and is returning to our Army..So your not alone. keep up the P/T training and good Luck....

Good for you Dennis! I went into the Army after being in the Navy for 6 years andwith 14 years in between. I was 38 at the time & went Airborne Infantry. I was in great shape because at that time I was a martial arts instructor, a wrestling coach & a Private Detective.

I advise anyone entering military service to get in shape.

Since you're reenlisting what branch were you in & how long were you out?

I retired a few years ago with 27 years of military service.

Are you planning on going back to FA? My cousin, a COL was a FA brigade commander & loved it. I always enjoyed grunt work so try as he would he couldn't get me to reclass to a 13 series. Besides there was no way I wanted the possibility of working for him.

I finished my Army career as an instructor then 1SG for a Commo Instructor Co. & then G3 acting SGM as a MSG.

Hi dennis44,
You and I are going back in at similar ages. I am 42, and comming back like you.
I now have a MEPS date for Tuesday (This is my 3rd date for MEPS, but this one seems fairly firm). Other dates canceled because the recuiter forgot a signature or did a piece of paperwork out of order. Friends and relatives are stunned at how many seemingly unimportant details and mistakes cause delays or problems, but being prior service, I know it's SOP, so I just grin and get in the next waiting line.
I've been treading through all the paperwork and medical records verifications needed for many old injuries, and I have a very inexperienced recruiter, so I hope your experience will be much easier.
Have you been through MEPS yet?
Who knows... We might even go to the same WTC class
