Default ASVAB pre-test and actual test scores

Well i talked to my recruiter today and took the practice test, I scored 83. I'm wondering how much harder the actual test will be?

And what physical requirements do i have to pass to get in to Basic? My recruiter told me 1 mile 8:30, Sit ups and push ups aren't a problem. I have no prior service.

I would say the pre-test is pretty close to the difficulty of the actal test. I remember scoring around a 71 and scored the same thing on the real test.

The physical requirements to get into basic varies based on your age, but if you're anywhere from 18-23 expect to do an 8:30 mile, 13 pushups in 1 minute, and 17 situps in one minute. Just google "army PFT" and I'm sure you'll find the actual document with the age groups.

You can delete them yourself, go into Edit and "Delete Message" then click the delete button...

You seem to be in good shape to go.. 83 is a good score, just practice them using a practice book or online and you will do fine... 8.30mins for a mile seems like minimum entry, try for 2 miles in 14 minutes.. build yourself up to it...

Im 35 and can do 60 press ups in 1 minute.. I just tried it and did it now, If I was warmed up, Im sure I could do the same in sit ups.. I certainly good last week... lol... Point is, that dont aim for minimum entry, aim for your personal best...

You're 35 & that's all you can do? That's only 1 every second. But how many in 2 minutes??

I just tried it myself & was only able to squeeze out 57 ( Don't think I can do a whole lot more in 2 minutes). Of course I'm a few years shy of being twice your age. Clean living will do it every time.

Now I've got some work to do to play catch up.

They should have had a pint waiting for you at the finish line. Had you known that you might have even set a record for the two mile!

Back in the day when I instructed land nav we buried a 6 pack of beer at the last checkpoint. Whoever was in the lead & had accurate coordinates it was theirs. There wasn't an e-tool within 2 miles so they had to dig it up with their bare hands. The Army put a stop to that however. (Spoilsports.)

I scored a 79 on my pre-test, and ended up with a 95 on the real thing. My recruiter told me that I should actually expect to do about 10-20 percent better, and he was right. As to the physical requirements, I don't know yet, lol. I just took the ASVAB, the rest is this weekend when I sign the papers.
