Default "Murphy's Law of Combat"

My Dad seen this article in the paper a long time ago. I thought I would share it with you.

1. You are not superman( New graduates of marine boot camp and all fighter pilots, take note)
2.Supressive fires--Won't.
3.If it's stupid but works, it isnt stupid.
4.Don't look con****uous- it draws fire.
5.When in doubt, empty the magazine.
6.Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than you are.
7.Never forget your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.
8.If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.
9.No plan survives the first contact-intact.
10.Try to look unimportant, because the bad guys may be low on ammo.
11.If you are forward of your position, the artillery will fall short.
12.The enemy diversion you are ignoring is the main attack.
13.The important things are always simple.
14.The simple things are always hard.
15.The easy way is always mined.
16.If you are short of everything except enemy-you are in combat.
17.Incoming fire has the right of way.
18.No combat-ready unit passes inspection.
19.If the enemy is in range-SO ARE YOU.
20.Things that must be together to work usually can't be shipped together.
21.Radios will fail as soon as you need fire support desperately.
22.Anything you do can get you shot-including doing nothing.
23.Make it too tough for the enemy to get in, and you can't get out.
24.Tracers work both ways.
25.The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
26.If you take more than your fair share of objectives, you will have more than your fair share to take.
27.When both sides are convinced they are about to loose, they're both right.
28.Professional soldiers are predictable, but the world is full of amateurs.
29.Murphy was a grunt.

Major Mark Cancian reduced man's entire knowledge of war into this dictum; "The side with the simplest uniforms wins"

LOL, sounds like Australian humour, cos that's that funniest **** i've read in a while.

Speculation suggests that Murhpey's law originated from many things that Audie Murphey would say while in combat. Audie Murphey was a US soldier (made lieutenant) in WW2. He recieved the Medal of Honour for actions in Europe, and died in a plane crash after a short film career.

Interesting history lesson there, nothing to geek out about.I'll have to look up this Mark Cancian guy though

Cool murphy's law

a couple other items to remember concerning murphy's law of combat

your weapons system was built by the lowest bidder

And while it's not exactly murphy's law - I did find it interesting that all the plastic parts of the M16 are made by Mattell - the toy maker

that murphys law is bad tactics and if any of you go into combat with those rules you will find yourself with a bullet in your forehead

It has nothing to do with tactics .. it's a tongue in cheek representation of the ****ty things that go wrong during combat and some of the more obvious conclusions that people may tend to forget.

Read it again, you've missed the point.
