Mr Saakashvili's government
Regardless of Russia's over reaction in Georgia. It should not be forgotten that it was the Georgian armed forces that started this conflict in the Caucasus. It started it by indiscriminantly shelling and firing a masive amount of armaments into the South Ossetian capital. Why did Saakashvili's order this attack and plunge his country into chaos. If I was a Georgian I would not be too happy with the president. He's clearly an incompetent drama queen of the highest order. Why is it Basterds like Saakashvili's get to keep their lives un-effected while others perish due to his greed and ambition...........???

It makes me wonder if he was paid by the Russians to attack Ossetia. Russia is the only winner in all this. NATO looks weak.....and Russia looks confident

nope... Putin totally hates Saakashvili, and another ways around.
this has to do with Saakashvili's very alien politics from the Russian point of view.
(Saakashvili lived in the united states etc.)
so as the Russians see Saakashvili as US "brown noser",
they also see he's politics as a direct threat to the Russian interests in the region.
US has often used force in the late decades to enforce their interests, and the
Russians are basicly doing the same stuff which US used to do plenty within
and after the cold war.
what comes to the Georgian regions trying to separate from the main country
mainly because of the hundreds of years of ethnic fudes, it just gave the
russians a stepping stone torward achiving their goals.
So.. the Russians just use the Saakashvilis "a bit" naive aproach to things
as their advantage.

Theres conflicting reports..the Georgians say they were attacked and the Russians say they were attack from Gori..who knows?...it was an over reaction from Moscow and i think the Russians laid the bait for the Georgians and they took it when it comes Ossitia...Navie Georgian president saakashvli??...Yes...the Georgians have been sold that its"Russian agresstion"..and their towns were on fire so the people will back the president..he has the surport of his people so i doubt he is in **** there
He does seem quiet a crazy cannon...and he could drag the west into a war..it all comes down to the message of freedom..does it apply to everyone...or do we play politics with it

when I say that Saakashvili might be naive in he's politics.. i ment that the Russian territorial
invasion should have been obvious outcome to take account when exercising very profoundly Western policy right next to Russia.. the geopolitical variations included.
Is Finland a Western civilization? perhaps but it has been build over time
with countless and contless of manhours of work (no, decades) dealing with Russian Soviet byrocracy
and afterwards the Russian Federation.
Saakashvilish approach is like a snap of fingers..
and then we have all thriving modern western country at caucasus...
it just doesn't happen that way.

Correct! Finland had the intelligence to play the Neutral card, which is what Georgia should have done. Well said Torspo!

Georgia was the third largest contributor to forces in Iraq, arguably making the Americans third greatest ally, no?
Condazilla said yesterday, in response to Russia's threats to Poland, that if Russia were to attack Poland they must realize that it would invoke item 5 of the treaty which is military backing. Attack one, attack all.
I wonder how that made Georgia feel?
+, maybe countries will wonder, if the U.S won't aid it's 3rd largest Iraqi partner, why aid the U.S.
It's a great game of Chess really. In a way, I guess.

With everyone in the west tied down in wars or reliant on Russian fuel, and the day after the opening ceremonies, Georgia attacks a pro-Russian breakaway on the Russian border.
That's like getting cotton candy. If your a Russian.
