Default A Date is Set

I recently spoke with my OSO and he has set a date for me to attend USMC OCC-202 (Officer Candidate Class). It's going to be from 3 OCT 09 to 11 DEC 09. I CAN'T WAIT!
I have one more hurdle to clear and I'm there!

Well you have a whole year to get yourself in shape mentally & physically (although I think it's too late for the mentally. USMC you know.) & to convince your wife if you already haven't done so. The biggest convincer would be to tell her there's no chance of getting layed off. Of course if Sen. Obama gets elected that might not be so true. He's vowing to cut the military. I remember guys getting riffed during the Clinton years. One, a neighbor, was a Navy pilot, LtCdr, who got dropped from the Navy at 18.5 years. Couldn't even get in the reserves. No pension. He did get a sort of severance pay but it wasn't much. He was due to go up for Cmdr but never got the chance so he wasn't passed over. Maybe you shouldn't use that argument.

Yeah she is. She has been in contact with some other Marine wives thru a forum and it seems that they are giving her some experiences that they've been thru and letting her know that there is support should she need it. It's great.
