I am so proud!
I got a call from number 1 son on Monday. He was promoted to specialist! He was pretty psyched. Still waiting to start Ranger School. They are now saying January.

Congrats!!!! That is something to be really proud about. I'm sure he is anxious to start Ranger school --- January is just around the corner. It will be here before you know it. I'm very happy for you guys.

Congratulations to the new SPC!
Ranger School in January at least won't be hot. My son went through it in the winter & during Mountain Phase in Dahlonega, GA they couldn't climb the mountain because it was iced up. He had psyched himself self up for that & was sorry he missed out. The did a lot of rappeling instead & did some climbing at lower, safer elevations.
The hardest phase is the last at Eglin AFB, FL. By that time they're really hurting, tired, hungry & they're wet the whole time walking in the swamp.

True about the weather, he did OSUT last summer during the drought. Growing up in Texas probably helped him handle the heat a little easier. He's always loved the physical stuff so I am not worried. He is worried about coming home for Christmas though. (Afraid he will lose his resolve with the tub of peanut butter balls.) I think he has decided to just make a short trip home and go back early to keep his work outs somewhat consistent.
