Default Enlistment vs OCS

I'm thinking of joining and I have spoken with a recruiter. I have seen that the Army offers $65K for signing up right now. I have two degrees. My recruiter says that the highest that I can enter is E4 and go through basic and AIT. After that, I can go to OCS. I have not receive a straight answer from her about weather I have to wait for my enlistment to end to go to OCS or can I go to it right after I report to my duty station. Can you advise?

If you come in enlisted, you would have to apply for OCS (and you can apply before your enlistement is up), it's not an automatic thing. If you already have the qualifications, I would recommend going in OCS, your recruiters can do the packets (some are just lazy because it's a little more effort). If that's the route you want to go in the end, why not start there?

Oh, I forgot about that (rushing to get kids off to school when replying). That's true. The bonus would be for enlisted personnel only. Tough decision. If you want the money go enlisted and put your packet in. The thing is, you have to make sure you know the rules of that bonus. If it's an MOS specific or time specific ensure you know what your options are once you are in so you don't have to pay it back. You may have to serve that entire first enlistment, how long will you have to enlist for? After that is completed put your packet in and go OCS.

honestly if i had a choice i would go enlisted first then ocs. your time as enlisted wont be wasted you'll get experience what the army is all about plus you do get a pay raise for your years of service if you go the enlisted route first as well. its all about what you want
