Default Mullah Says No Change in US Policies

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says the new U.S. administration is not showing any sign of changing its policies abroad or correcting what Tehran views as past mistakes.

Official Iranian media (IRNA and Press TV) report that Mr. Khamenei highlighted the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in a meeting with visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul late Tuesday. The supreme leader also pointed to Israel's recent offensive in Gaza as a sign that the U.S. is pursuing old policies.

Mr. Khamenei praised ties between Turkey and Iran, and he said he believes this strengthening relationship will irritate the U.S. and Israel.

Last week, Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said his nation would consider mediating talks between Iran and the United States.

U.S. President Barack Obama has said he is looking for opportunities to engage Iran but that Iran should send positive signals as well.

Turkey's president also met with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Mr. Gul is in Tehran to attend the regional Economic Cooperation Organization summit.

Obama knows that Iran holds the same threat now as it did before in was in office....It was easy for him to say a change of policy was needed when he was running.....Thats what elections are all about

Point out the failings of the previous admin and latch onto them.

American has changed was the message.....the problem is ...Iran/Syria/the world... hasnt

Countries like Iran are waiting for a different policy...or a message that says"Go about your business"

It shouldnt be a surprise to anyone that the views towards Iran and their actions havent changed.

And its a bloody good thing in my opinion....Kindness is weakness to the Muppet who runs Iran

Iran has been offered a chance to use the new presidency to soften its line. Upto press it clearly has no ambition in that direction. The politics within Iran are very controled from the clerics.......I'm sure many Iranian want to open up meaningful dialogue with the west. But as long as these medieval religeous nuts are in charge, I can't see any change soon

I agree with both of ye... The moderate elements in Iranian politics are completely suppressed and the voice of the clerics resonates for all of Persia... The fact is that the US has offered the hand of conciliation and gotten the two fingers back!!.. So, we need to see where we goto next..... Iran has not changed their policies, US in response needs to now decide whats next...... I personally would keep a low profile on response until the Persians make their next move....

Yes, the middle one is just fine!!.... But to really make the point Persian Style, the fist hooked under the other forearm makes the point in a manner understandable to them (assuming they are not watching Southpark!!)....
