Default Can I stiil take ASVAB??

I recently was told by a recruiter that I (now)cannot enlist in the Army-having only a GED(unexceptable),& have a felony-that I WASNOT convicted of.A long story short-no waivers!I took the practice test,(no studying for 20yrs)& got a 67.At that time ,the recruiter said"no problem!"I since-have studied for the ASVAB,inside & out......but now they don't "need me."I start college5/18 to get around(15credits needed)the "GED issue."
Can I still request to take the ASVAB?????Just to get a concrete score??MOS-Infantry,Airborne.Or 21D

As MSG Glenn (on this board) would tell you, now is pretty much the worst possible time to try and enlist due to HS/College grads + crummy economy. If nothing came of your arrest, then I don't think it should matter quite so much.

No studying for 20 years? I know they're taking guys (like me) in their 30s, but if you early to mid 40s, I'm not sure.

The recruiter is just probably too busy, and didn't want to bother. I'd go back, find another recruiter, and just ask about taking the test. I just went through the enlistment process, and believe me, you have to be diligent. They'll take a GED if you get *I think at least a 50, maybe 60. I dunno.

I had heard that no H.S. diploma, no enlistment & no waivers are granted at this time. The ASVAB score has been increased to 50 as a passing score from the 31 it was a month or so ago. Bonuses have been reduced or eliminated for some MOSs. Some MOSs are not available for enlitees due to all of the slots at OSUT & AIT being filled.

That would seem to me that there is evidence of Recruiting meeting & exceeding its goal. You might have to wait until the end of the year to try it again. Once the present list of grads is gone through the Recruiters will start to get hungry again & enlistment incentives should be offered again along with waivers.

You should still be able to take the ASVAB even if they aren't accepting waivers. I would however, suggest to study for the ASVAB while you are working on your 15 CH to give you the best chance possible.

Waivers are still given out at this time, it just depends on underlying factors on whether they want to push it through.

Good Asvab scores, Excellent physical condition, Education level, Recruiting needs, and many other factors do not get deterred stay the course. For if this is what you truly want to do you will not falter and give up easily!

Very, very few waivers are being accepted at least until fall or winter. Felonies are no longer waivered. GEDs aren't being accepted without 15 college credits. Minimum accepted ASVAB scores have been raised for 31 to 50 to be allowed to enlist. Many MOSs have closed due to full AIT classes. Prior service are only being given MOS 89D in most cases & 11x, especially Option 4 & Option 40 contracts are very hard to get.

At this time the Army can be very picky about who they recruit. Long lines at the Recruiting Offices & USAREC exceeding it's enlistment goals has allowed them to take the pick of the litter.

Anybody with issues should probably wait unto fall or winter to try to enlist. By that time bonuses should be back along with waivers. It also gives many the opportunity to study for the ASVAB & increase their score & get their PT improved. Regardless of how good anybody is there's always room for improvement.

I agree with MSG, It also depends on the recruiting needs of the month.
For example if you come in at the end of the month and the station has already met there qouta hate to say it like that but hey they have them. They could drag you along until the next month to try and push hard for you then so they have it easier that next month!

But like I said stick in there and keep trying!!
