He was sworn in on his 17th birthday on December 8th and was promoted 4 mths later from PV to PV2 which i'm just a bit proud of if you can't tell. This is still all new to me so i'm just trying to get any sort of info I can to guide us through the process. So happy to meet you all and God Bless.

Good luck to your son & thank you for raising a Patriot willing to stick his a$$ on the line for his country.

I went through what you'll be going through. My son enlisted more than 5 years ago to become an Army Airborne Ranger, not the safest of jobs. Four deployments to Iraq & one to Afghanistan later he decided to leave active duty & signed up for the Army Reserve where he's now an instructor & a SSG.

At this time he's attending a Criminal Justice course to go into law enforcement on the $50,000 of Montgomery GI Bill money plus he gets paid over $1300 a month while he's in school.

Thank you so much for saying that and your welcome. I must say the same to you as well and please thank your son for me for helping to keep us safe. My own son wants to become Army Airborne so we shall see what happens. Good luck to your son on his law inforcement endeavors I too am taking criminal justice in the hopes of working with battered women (my children and myself were victims of Domestic Abuse). I am so happy to be here I think I will have alot of questions and again thank you for the welcome.

God Bless our troops,
Tina PAM to PV2 Anthony V

Hi Tina, Your story sounds alot like what my son & I have gone through. He inlisted when he was 17 as well, left for Ft. Jackson as a P2 just after turning 18. From there he went to APG, now he is at Ft. Benning. I miss him dearly & I now know I am far from being alone with my heavy heart. Hope all goes well for you & your son. Best wishes to you all

Hi a. Rose,

Yes I guess are sons are quite similar. It's hard to see him go so young but i'm happy for him too because I know it's what he wants very badly. I also know a different young man will come back to me. Please keep in touch i'd love to know how your son is doing and I will do the same. I'm sure i'll have questions about Ft Jackson, i've been trying to find some info online but am having a hard time connecting to the site. I will talk to you later, nice meeting you.

God Bless,
Tina PAM to PV2 Anthony V

Hi! and thank you so much for the welcome, my son left for basic today and my mother/son morning I planned didnt' go so well as we had to go to court for my divorce which we didn't find out until last night. I did get up early and make him a special breakfast, I was really strong though and I didn't cry...i'll probably do that later when my girls go to sleep. I'm hoping he doesn't have any problems weight wise...he put on a few lbs since Dec.when he was sworn in but lost some over the last few days, I wish we knew sooner. Ok i'll stop now because i'm babbling! I will definitely be on alot thank you so much again!
