Exclamation Needing some info about transporting my soldier from BCT to AIT..?

Hello!

My name is Brittany. My husband PV2 Nolan is currently attending BCT at Fort Jackson, SC. He actually graduates in 16 days! WOOHOO!

Well, in my graduation packet, I received some information saying that I could possinly transport my soldier from BCT to his AIT location..

..His AIT location is Fort Gordon, GA.

It is only an hour and a half, from where he is currently at. So our travel time is 24 hours. UGGGH!

Well, that would put me getting him there on July 18,2009. A Saturday.

His actual first day of AIT says July 20,2009.

So is there any possibility in him getting an off post pass for that saturday night or something, after he checks in at AIT in Fort Gordon...???

I did reserve a hotel in Georgia just in case.
I actually had it reserved Saturday and Sunday night, but I just went ahead and change my reservations to just Saturday night, JUST IN CASE!

But I just wanted to post, and ask about this..

I figured maybe some of yall have had past expieriences or might just know that answer..?

Thanks & have a great afternoon!

I'm looking foward to some replies.

My Nephew went from Ft Jackson to AIT at Ft. Gordon. His family drove him to Ft. Gordon on Saturday where he checked in. Once that was done his Mother was able to sign him out for an off base pass and he was able to stay with them at the hotel until Sunday afternoon. Hope this helps.

Oh yes, this does help. WOOHOO.

I am really crossing my fingers, my toes, and praying alootttt about this. I really want as much timewith him as possible.

I did talk to a gentlemen at Fort Gordon, he said that once he checks in he gotta do some paperwork, go to drop his stuff at his new barracks, and then he should get the option to get signed out. So hopefully!

Thanks soo much!

I left Fort Gordon last year and Fort Jackson is right down the road on I-20. So he is basically going how far for leave? What does his orders say is his report date?

Nothing wrong with checking in early on a Saturday to save leave and it shouldnt be a problem. Fort Gordon is not really a stressful AIT base (its the home of SIGNAL) and it has a nice in-processing center. I went there as an officer so I was treated much differently and had a nice house to stay in while I went there for training. Anyway, good luck and you should get your time. I dont know which hotel you rented but if you rent a hotel by I-20, you going to pay alot of money. Go off the back roads by the back gate and you get some nice ones for cheap.

I got one at the Econo Lodge, I had gotten it for 69.99 a night, but it's a military discount, it's a king suite.

I realllllly hope they let me transport him..

..and once he checks in at ait i sure hope they let him get an off post pass for that night

he graduates july 17

his first day of ait is july 20
