Since its founding two centuries ago, the Military Academy has accomplished its mission by developing cadets in four critical areas: intellectual, physical, military, and moral-ethical - a four-year process called the "West Point Experience." Specific developmental goals are addressed through several fully coordinated and integrated programs.

There are numerous colleges and universities that are approved to accept Veterans Administrations (VA) benefits, and have a special interest in attracting departing military personnel. Many of the schools offer programs tailored specifically to the needs of verterans and provide admissions counselors to assist with tuition creidts and proper documentation.

The Army offers more than 40 certification programs, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, A+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate and Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate.

Ninety percent of servicemembers enter the armed forces for the educational benefits. However, only 50 percent actually use their educational benefits.
