DOD Web Site Links Service Members to Deployment Medical Research

Today, the DOD Office of Force Health Protection and Readiness announced a new Web site, DeployMed ResearchLINK for service members, veterans, their families and other members of the public to access medical research information in a unique and innovative way. By mid-summer, the site will include information related to the most recent military deployments, such as Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

"This Web site reflects the Department's commitment to research that addresses deployment-related health concerns," said William Winkenwerder, Jr., assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.

The site's information is organized to ensure ease of navigation. Visitors can access medical research information by geographic region, major deployment or health topic of interest. The Web site also provides users with a brief summary of the research project written so that it is easily understood by persons with both medical and non-medical backgrounds.

DeployMed ResearchLINK combines two web sites -DeployMed and Medsearch - into one to better inform service members and health care providers about on-going medical research aimed at safeguarding the health of those who are deployed.
